The Invisalign Journey: What to Expect from Start to Finish

Invisalign

In the previous blogs this month we have covered the benefit of orthodontic treatment and compared the two most frequent treatments. If you’ve decided to straighten your teeth with Invisalign, you are in for a convenient, discreet, and effective orthodontic experience. Here’s a step-by-step guide to what your Invisalign journey will look like here at NHS Dentist.

Step 1: Initial Consultation

Your Invisalign journey begins with a consultation with one of our Invisalign Dentists. During this appointment, your dentist will assess your teeth and bite, discuss your smile goals, and determine if Invisalign is the right treatment for you. As part of your consultation, we will take digital scans of your teeth, providing you with a simulation of how your teeth could look after aligner treatment.

Step 2: Tailored Treatment Plan

Using the same scan as mentioned above, your dentist will create a detailed and tailored 3D digital treatment plan of your teeth’s current position and their movement throughout treatment. This will give you a preview of how your smile will look during and once treatment is complete. Based on this plan, a series of custom-made aligners will be created specifically for you.

Step 3: Wearing Your Aligners

Once your aligners are ready, you will begin wearing them for 20-22 hours per day, only removing them to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Each set of aligners will gently move your teeth into the desired position. You will switch to a new set of aligners approximately every 1-2 weeks, progressing through the stages of your treatment.

Step 4: Regular Check-Ins

Throughout your Invisalign journey, you’ll have check-ins with your dentist every 6-12 weeks to monitor your progress and ensure everything is on track. These visits are typically quicker than traditional braces adjustments since there are no wires to tighten. We also provide our patients with Dental Monitoring a revolutionary software to compliment in-person care. Dental monitoring software allows for remote tracking of your orthodontic treatment, providing you with the convenience of real-time progress updates, enhanced communication with your dentist, and timely adjustments to ensure optimal results without monthly in-person visits.

Step 5: Completing Your Treatment

After you have completed your Invisalign treatment, you would have achieved your new smile! In all cases, we recommend our patients to wear a retainer to maintain the results and prevent teeth from shifting back.

Invisalign offers a smooth, flexible path to a straighter, healthier smile, with the added convenience of being virtually invisible. With dedication to wearing your aligners and attending your check-ups, you’ll be enjoying your perfect smile in no time!
